𝗡𝗲𝗯𝗼ž𝗱𝗲𝗿 [Nebozhder] is a hybrid immaterial creature and a shapeshifting body of sound, enveloping the space(s) it finds itself in and devouring the silence(s) it inhabits. It derives its name from the Croatian term for skyscraper (neboder), taking the prefix ‘nebo-’ (sky-) and adding the suffix ‘-žder’ (-vore, or devourer), thus giving rise to the towering figure of 𝘴𝘬𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘳.

The acoustic sound of the solo saxophone is shattered, disintegrated, and reassembled through close positioning of microphones linked to a quadraphonic speaker setup and recorded with a binaural microphone at a beautifully sounding church space. Spatiality draws contours of the music and garments the listeners’ ears with an embracing, tactile fabric of sound, sometimes abruptly and other times gently laying upon the room.
